This week on Restaurant: Impossible, Robert Irvine and his crew are in Colleyville, Texas to makeover From Across the Pond. From Across the Pond is a British restaurant owned by expat Lee Herdman who has put everything he has into the restaurant. Robert finds that Lee has lost all hope and needs to help Lee realize he is capable of turning his restaurant around.
As I normally do with Restaurant: Impossible episodes, I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about From Across the Pond to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Robert Irvine visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Restaurant: Impossible):
Positive Reviews:
- "This little oasis of gluten-free goodness in doing it right! The fresh decor evokes an English pub without being cheap & cheesy. The staff is attentive and efficient. The food, well, my family MUST stay gluten-free; but honestly, you'll never miss it here. Onion rings, fish&chips, shepherd's pie are family favorites. They were doing a brisk business this evening - hurrah! I want this refreshed business to thrive!"
- "I'm so glad we found this place!!! We were only in town for an athletic event so it was a special treat. The atmosphere is quaint and well decorated for the theme and very clean. The staff is super nice. The food was melt in your mouth amazing! We had the Scottish Eggs, a kid's hamburger, fish 'n chips, and the bacon banger balls & mash. There were so many other items I wanted to try. We'll ha e to make another trip. What was most impressive is that EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free but you'd never know by the taste".
- "This was our first visit to the new location - we'd been there when they were in NRH. The space is smaller but it's cozy and makes more sense than the previous space. For me, it's all about the food and the food was fantastic! I had the Beef and Ale Pie and the squeeze had the Bacon Banger Balls and Mash. They were both great. I am not a pea fan, but there wasn't a pea left in my bowl when I was done. Both were hearty and filling without that stuffed feeling at the end. Meatballs were tender and tasty, and the gravy was delicious. The staff was attentive and friendly. And of course, gluten free options are readily available. Looking forward to our next visit!"
- "An amazing place and delicious food. The fish and chips are out of this world. As is pretty much everything on the menu"
- "Great food and service. The fish & chips were fabulous. The fish was cooked perfectly. And the Shepards Pie was very flavorful and the meat was very tender."
- "Fish and chips great, wait staff 5 stars. Half my family is GF, there entire menu is available GF. Fantastic. Little bit of a drive from Frisco but will be back!!!"
Negative Reviews:
*Review from Yelp, Google- "Not good as the real thing. The fish and chips at London Airports are way better than Across the pond. I ate a lot of fish & chips while working over there at the airports. Chips were crispy as well as the fish, not soggy. Peas were fresh, not 2 different colors."
- "Chips should not be this dark and the Sunday roast was cold. Very disappointing first experience! Not in a hurry to come back."
- "We had 2 entres, the Sunday dinner was overly salty! Pretty much the whole meal was over salted and cold! Keep in mind we got there like 30 minutes after doors opened no reason what so ever for cold food ever. Fish and chips is mediocre nothing special about it and very bland no seasoning at all the chips were good, we couldn't order desert because 30 minutes after opening they were already out! Go figure. We were expecting a lot more from this restaurant after the revamp but it's still the same as it was before"
