Restaurant Impossible - The Emporium

This week on Restaurant: Impossible, Robert Irvine and his crew are in Hawk Springs, Wyoming to makeover The Emporium. The Emporium is located in a small town and the owner Dennis is having trouble attracting customers and leading his staff.  His daughter Dillon may walk away from the business if Robert cannot get Dennis to change his ways.

As I normally do with Restaurant: Impossible episodes, I searched around the Internet to read stories, comments and reviews about The Emporium to get an idea of how the restaurant is doing since Robert Irvine visited, and here is what I found (note - all reviews are post Restaurant: Impossible):

Positive Reviews:
  • "What a cool place to eat at and the food was delicious. I'm so glad we stopped on our way to Mt. Rushmore, Dillon was so friendly and informative about hot spots in South Dakota."
  • "Met my daughter and son-in-law here for dinner. The prime rib is probably the best I've ever had. The buttermilk-pecan pie, absolutely delicious, that hint of bourbon! Yum! Can't wait to visit again."
  • "Waitress was super friendly. Food was amazing! Atmosphere was awesome. Love this place"
  • "I had a wonderful dinner with friends and the meal was exceptional! Everything was prepared very well, there was a good selection on the menu to choose from and we had some cocktails with our meal. The dessert was fabulous!"
  • "Excellent ambience! Prime rib sandwich was tender and delicious. Service was great! Can't wait to go back!"

Other News and Links:
  • The Restaurant Impossible makeover for The Emporium happened in September 2020.
  • Here is The Emporium Facebook page.
  • Here are the Yelp, Tripadvisor and Google reviews for The Emporium.
  • In a local article after the episode first aired on Discovery+, Dennis said, "Regular customers have been supportive, with mixed opinions on the changes, but overall he wants to have a little something for everyone."
    • Dennis also said business struggled during the pandemic, because a lot of his business is generated from tourists traveling through the area to reach regional destinations such as Mount Rushmore, the Black Hills, Yellowstone, and Denver.

Conclusion:

The reviews for The Emporium after the Restaurant Impossible makeover are all positive with people liking the food, atmosphere, and friendly service.  The reviews for the restaurant before the makeover were also positive, but Dennis said tourism in the area being down impacted his restaurant.  Hopefully with tourism picking back up and the buzz resulting from the show airing on national TV, the restaurant is a success.
