Season 2 of Tournament of Champions hosted by Guy Fieri begins on Food Network March 7th at 9pm. This season is a little bit different as there are 14 chefs already announced to compete, while eight different chefs will compete for the final two spots. Therefore, the bracket will not be known until the final two chefs are revealed after the first two episodes.
The 7 chefs representing the East are: Madison Cowan, Maneet Chauhan, Darnell Ferguson, Amanda Freitag, Marc Murphy, Christian Petroni, and Bryan Voltaggio. All of these chefs also competed last year with the exception of Madison Cowen and Bryan Voltaggio. The chefs who competed last year but not this year are Rocco DiSprito, Alex Guarnaschelli, and Elizabeth Falkner.
The 7 chefs representing the West are: Cat Cora, Antonia Lofaso, Brian Malarkey, Aaron May, Jet Tila, and Michael Voltaggio. Antonia Lofaso, Jet Tila, Michael Voltaggio, and Brooke Williamson (who won) return from last year, while the other chefs are new. The chefs who competed last year but not this year for the West are Richard Blais, Eric Greenspan, Beau Macmillan, and Marcel Vigneron.
Simon Majumdar and Justin Warner will once again be providing the play-by-play analysis of the competition, but this year Hunter Fieri will be following the action backstage. The rotating panel of judges include Giada De Laurentiis, Scott Conant, Traci Des Jardins, Rocco DiSprito, Marcus Samuelsson, Nancy Silverton, Ming Tsai, and Jonathan Waxman. The prize is once again a brand-new SUV and this year every time a chef wins around, the show will donate $10,000 in their name to their favorite local restaurant in need.
I will update this post with the bracket once it is known and update this post each week with the winners like I did last year. The picture I have above seems to have 6 of the matchups, so it appears Brooke Williamson and Amanda Freitag will go against the wild card winners. Feel free to discuss this season in the comments.
