Tonight on the season 2 finale of Iron Chef Gauntlet, David LeFevre had a chance to become an Iron Chef by beating the combined score of Iron Chefs Alex Guarnaschelli, Stephanie Izard and Michael Symon. The Chairman allowed David LeFevre to decide which ingredient he would battle each Iron Chef with, and the competition was judged by Donatella Arpaia and Marcus Samuelsson.
Continue reading to see if David LeFevre was able to outscore the three Iron Chefs to become Food Network's newest Iron Chef.
For the first course David went against Stephanie Izard and was able to choose between the secret ingredients of goat or chocolate, which he chose goat. For the second course David went against Michael Symon and was able to choose between the secret ingredients of bacon or sturgeon, which he chose sturgeon. For the third course David went against Alex Guarnaschelli and was able to choose between the secret ingredients of eggplant or sea urchin, which he chose sea urchin.
The judges scored the battle: round one 35-31, round two 35-35, and round three 43-49 for a total of 113 for David LeFevre and 115 for the Iron Chefs. This means that David LeFevre did not became an Iron Chef.
Stephanie Izard was able to become and Iron Chef by winning season 1 of Iron Chef Gauntlet, so with David LeFevre losing, this should quiet down some of the people that think the show is rigged and the outcome is predetermined.
Iron Chef America returns next week and the show is returning to its original format.
