Food Network's December 2015 Programming Highlights

Here are some of the highlights of the Food Network programming scheduled to air on the channel in December:
  • The finale of Cake Wars: Christmas on Monday, December 14th at 9pm for $50,000.
  • The finale of Cutthroat Kitchen: Superstar Sabotage on Wednesday, December 2nd at 9pm.
  • The finale of Holiday Baking Championship on Sunday, December 20th at 9pm for $50,000.

  • A Celebrity Food Fight special on Wednesday, December 9th at 10pm hosted by Andy Richter.
  • A daytime special called Christmas at Bobby's on Sunday, December 13th at 1pm where Food Network stars such as Sunny Anderson, Anne Burrell, Scott Conant, Alex Guarnaschelli, Eddie Jackson, Katie Lee and Geoffrey Zakarian are over Bobby's house to cook their favorite Christmas dishes with him. 
  • A Chopped episode with Cooking Channel stars on Tuesday, December 8th at 10pm featuring Gabriele Corcos, Roger Mooking, Kelsey Nixon and Jim Stacy.

Food Network celebrates the season with themed specials, not-to-be-missed finales and holiday-themed episodes throughout December! Kicking off the month, host Alton Brown is behind the merry mayhem in the finale of Cutthroat Kitchen: Superstar Sabotage on Wednesday, December 2nd at 9pm, when the four winners from the prior heats compete to win up to $75,000 for the charity of their choice in a super-sized superstar chef showdown! Then, Alfonso Ribeiro unwraps holiday tradition in a special Unwrapped 2.0: Festive Foods on Monday, December 7th at 8pm, featuring a behind-the-scenes look at some of America’s favorite seasonal snacks and sweets. Next up, Andy Richter hosts the ultimate holiday dinner party with celebrities and chefs pairing up and facing off in a series of fast-paced food games in Celebrity Food Fight premiering Wednesday, December 9th at 10pm. Host Robert Irvine comes to town on Thursday, December 10th at 9pm to spread holiday cheer to kids of all ages at the City Kids Wilderness Project in special Holiday: Impossible. Then, the oven mitts come off and the sugar flies in two holiday tournament finales! The two remaining teams of expert bakers battle to create the ultimate gingerbread house while overcoming challenging obstacles for a chance at the $50,000 prize in the finale of Cake Wars: Christmas, hosted by Jonathan Bennett, on Monday, December 14th at 9pm. On Sunday, December 20th at 9pm, the three remaining bakers compete on the finale of Holiday Baking Championship, under the watchful eye of host Bobby Deen and judges Nancy Fuller, Duff Goldman and Lorraine Pascale, as they create their most sensational confections yet and vie for the grand prize and chance to be crowned Holiday Baking Champion! The competition continues to heat up on Sunday, December 27th at 8pm with the finale of Guy’s Grocery Games: Tournament of Champions, as the final four champs compete for the title of Triple G Grand Champion and the largest prize in Guy’s Grocery Games history! Also on the holiday menu are themed episodes of Beat Bobby Flay, Chopped, Chopped Junior, Cutthroat Kitchen, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Guilty Pleasures, Mystery Diners and Top Five Restaurants.

In daytime, Ina Garten celebrates the season with a great winter weekend of food and fun in the Berkshires, followed by a fabulous Christmas Eve lunch for friends in A Barefoot Holiday premiering Sunday, December 6th at 1pm. Bobby Flay is celebrating the season too as he invites some very special friends over for holiday fun and a fabulous potluck feast in special Christmas at Bobby’s premiering Sunday, December 13th at 1pm. The daytime lineup celebrates the holidays all month long with themed episodes of Brunch @ Bobby’s, Farmhouse Rules, Giada’s Holiday Handbook, Guy’s Big Bite, The Kitchen, Southern at Heart, The Pioneer Woman and Valerie’s Home Cooking.

American Diner Revival
Premiering Friday, December 4th at 9pm – “Degreasing the Greeks”
The Greeks diner has been feeding the hardworking men and women of Kearny, New Jersey for almost 50 years, but now this mom-and-pop diner is in danger of closing its doors because of its overindulgent greasy spoon fare. With less than two days to spare, can chef Amanda Freitag and renovation expert Ty Pennington degrease the restaurant with a transformation and updated, hearty Greek items?

Premiering Friday, December 11th at 9pm -“>From Cluttered Kitchen to Southern Family Picnic”
Liz’s Kitchen in Goodlettsville, Tennessee is one of the last mom-and-pop diners in town, but it is struggling because the cluttered, mismatched menu and decor are keeping new customers from coming in. Can chef Amanda Freitag and renovation expert Ty Pennington devise a plan that embraces the flavors of the south with a modern picnic twist?

Premiering Friday, December 18th at 9pm -“From Dingy to Divey to Funky and Functional”
The Hermitage Cafe was once a hopping late-night hangout in Nashville, but lately it looks more like a haggard historic eyesore with grimy grub and drab decor. Chef Amanda Freitag and renovation expert Ty Pennington only have two days to clean up this dirty dive, amp up the funky and make it functional!

Beat Bobby Flay
Premiering Thursday, December 3rd at 10pm -“Hook, Line and Sinker”
It is an upstream battle as hotel chef Roy Breiman and restaurant chef Vaughn Crenshaw go head-to-head for the chance to beat Bobby Flay. Chopped judge Scott Conant and Today Show co-host Willie Geist cast their lines for the best chef to take him down.

Premiering Thursday, December 10th at 10pm -“Roasting on an Open Fire” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
Chopped judge Alex Guarnaschelli and magician Penn Jillette are hoping for a Christmas miracle, beating Bobby Flay. Moroccan French chef Adil Fawzi and New Jersey chef Ariane Duarte faceoff in the hopes of receiving the best gift of all, a win over Bobby.

Premiering Thursday, December 17th at 10pm -“Poking and Prodding”
Comedian Judy Gold teams up with The Kitchen co-host Katie Lee for the chance to poke fun at their dear friend Bobby Flay. Las Vegas titan Alex Stratta, and Iranian chef Houman Gohary are not here to play games as they compete with the hopes to take on Bobby, but who will have the last laugh?

Cake Wars: Christmas
Premiering Monday, December 7th at 9pm – “Charlie Brown Celebrates” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
Only three teams remain and they must prove their talents in challenges celebrating the 50th anniversary of “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” In the Stocking Stuffer Challenge, they deck out Snoopy’s dog house for the holidays. Then, in Santa’s Mega Challenge, they are tasked to create the ultimate Charlie Brown Christmas party. Host Jonathan Bennett presides over the action as Lindsay Schultz, artist and granddaughter of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz, joins judges Charles Phoenix and Sherry Yard to help decide who takes the cake and moves on to the finale.

Premiering Monday, December 14th at 9pm – “Ultimate Gingerbread House” – SEASON FINALE!
The final two teams battle one last time. Host Jonathan Bennett gets the action started with the Stocking Stuffer Challenge, where the teams must make eye-popping, edible snow globes. Then, in Santa’s Mega Challenge they are challenged to create the ultimate gingerbread house. Golden Globe-nominated actress Monica Potter joins Charles Phoenix and Sherry Yard to judge in the grand finale. Only one team will jingle all the way home as the winner of $50,000.

Celebrity Food Fight – Premiering Wednesday, December 9th at 10pm – SPECIAL!
Andy Richter hosts the ultimate holiday dinner party, where celebrities and chefs pair up and face-off in a series of fast-paced food games. As each course is served, so is a new round of competition, from blind taste-testing with a twist to “cooking the books,” featuring celebrity cookbooks – both real and not. The games are on, and Andy is putting the stars’ food knowledge and skills to the test!

Chopped
Premiering Tuesday, December 1st at 10pm – “Mac and Cheese”
In this competition, every round features the food pair with a powerful bond — macaroni and cheese! The competitors come out strong in the appetizer round with sophisticated mac and cheese dishes that include Swiss chard. Then in the entree round, when one chef leaves cheese out of their dish, will it add up to approval from the judges? A time-crunch in the dessert round leaves one of the chefs dashing to get all components on the plate.

Premiering Thursday, December 3rd at 8pm – “Chopped Desserts!”
The normal Chopped rounds have been replaced with chocolate, candy and cake for this special competition, featuring four pastry chefs. In the first round, the judges are drawn in as they watch the competitors make delicious chocolate dishes that include Mississippi mud pie and cherries. Then in the second round, the chefs must incorporate something bubbly and something crispy into their candy creations. The finalists have an hour to mix, bake and decorate cakes that contain rice and avocadoes.

Premiering Tuesday, December 8th at 10pm – “Holiday Cooking” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
Faster than a speeding reindeer, Cooking Channel stars Gabriele Corcos, Roger Mooking, Kelsey Nixon and Jim Stacy are set to take on a holiday challenge in the Chopped kitchen, with $10,000 on the line for their favorite charity. The beautiful appetizer basket features a whole roasted goose. Then after a meat-and-potatoes entree round, the two finalists open the dessert basket to find some fruit and some pie dough. Will they take the hint or take a more creative approach?

Premiering Thursday, December 10th at 8pm – “In-Laws, In Teams!”
They are family by marriage, and teammates in this competition: pairs of mothers and daughters-in-law are taking over the Chopped kitchen! In the appetizer round, a boozy accessory and a standard leftover are part of the challenge. In the entree round, the remaining teams find odd eggs and mashed potatoes in the baskets. A subtropical fruit and a gooey bread are two of the surprise ingredients that the final teams must conquer in their desserts.

Premiering Tuesday, December 15th at 10pm – “Family Affair”
A mom, dad, son and aunt who work in the same restaurant go head-to-head in the Chopped kitchen. In the first round, one family member’s grill pan gets taken over by two relatives. In the entree round, chicken breasts seem like an easy protein to work with, but how will the chefs fare with the other mystery ingredients? The final two family members make desserts using dried fruit and a very sweet cake.

Premiering Thursday, December 17th at 8pm – “Battle of the Grandpas”
Four beloved grandfathers fight it out in the Chopped kitchen in hopes of making their families proud. In the first round, a breakfast starch and a classic soda fountain choice are two of the mystery basket ingredients. Then in the entree round, beef and peanut butter taffy bites are what’s for dinner. In the final round, featuring a homey pie and a fresh fruit, one of the granddads experiences a moment of confusion, resulting in a potentially costly mishap.

Premiering Tuesday, December 22nd at 10pm – “Secrets of Winning”
Think you have what it takes to win Chopped? Join host Ted Allen and take a look back at some of the most bizarre baskets, wildest mishaps and most creative cooking moments from America’s most pressure-packed cooking competition. Learn how to cook your way to becoming the next Chopped Champion with insider info on tackling the basket, beating the clock and impressing the judges!

Online, catch behind-the-scenes photos, video highlights, including two new episodes of the companion web series Chopped After Hours. In this exclusive series, the judges will take on festive mystery baskets seen on the show. Chopped Junior
Premiering Tuesday, December 1st at 8pm – “Adorably Ambitious”
Four new junior chefs arrive in the kitchen to show they are already cooking like pros, and chefs Scott Conant and Madison Cowan are joined by actress Mila Kunis to judge the competition. In the first round, the young chefs receive both yummy and yucky ingredients for appetizers, then aim for a perfect salmon dish in the entree round. For dessert, they must transform an iconic cake into something new and delicious.

Premiering Tuesday, December 8th at 8pm – “Culinary Elves” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
Four new junior chefs get into the spirit of the season as they create a feast for the judges, former White House chef Sam Kass, Food Network’s Marc Murphy and Martha Stewart! In the appetizer round, the walls of gingerbread houses come down, and for entrees, the young cooks must make sweet ingredients work with leg of lamb. Finally, everyone is happy to see snowmen made of doughnuts in the dessert basket.

Premiering Tuesday, December 15th t 8pm – “Cereal Miracles”
A new group of junior chefs brings their enthusiasm to the Chopped kitchen and seeks approval from the judges: model Camila Alves and chefs Michelle Bernstein and Scott Conant. They find shellfish and a dried seafood snack in the appetizer basket, but tears come when one competitor hears that time is up. The entree round features cereal and a beautiful cut of meat, but using a pre-baked cake inventively in dessert is a big challenge.

Premiering Tuesday, December 22nd at 8pm – “Future Stars”
Four junior chefs with an appetite for long-term success square off in front of a special panel of judges, including former professional boxer Laila Ali and chefs Marc Murphy and Sam Talbot. The appetizer basket includes a creepy-crawly snack and fried onions, and a canned product is met with disdain in the entree round. Finally, they must balance several super-sweet items in their desserts.

Premiering Tuesday, December 29th at 8pm – “Birthday Cake Crush”
There is double trouble in the kitchen, as this group of young competitors includes twin sisters! They have to work hard to impress the judges, former professional boxer Laila Ali and chefs Aarón Sánchez and Art Smith. In the first round, cookies and veggies are mandatory ingredients, and in the entree basket, they are surprised by a beautiful birthday cake. For dessert, the final two chefs must marry salty with sweet.

Cutthroat Kitchen
Premiering Sunday, December 6th at 10pm -“A Dingo Ate My Dutch Baby”
Two chefs have to make Dutch baby pancakes while playing Double Dutch! Two chefs join the Queen’s guard while making bangers and mash. Finally, one chef has to snap photos while making ginger snaps.

Premiering Wednesday, December 9th at 9pm -“Naughty vs. Nice” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
In a special holiday episode, three chefs have to harvest ingredients from Christmas stockings to make a party dip. Then, two chefs must pull around Santa in his sleigh while preparing a beef tenderloin dinner. Finally, one chef has to make their snack for Santa in Santa’s workshop.

Premiering Sunday, December 13th at 10pm -“We Don’t Need Another Gyro”
An old trend makes a comeback as one chef planks as they make crab cake benedict. One chef has to make a gyro while spinning around on a giant spit. Finally, one chef has to make rhubarb pie in a pi pan.

Premiering Wednesday, December 16th at 9pm -“Holi-Dazed and Confused” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
In this special holiday episode, two chefs have to prep their Christmas quiche on a pile of snow. Then, two chefs must make a duck dinner while sitting on Santa’s lap. Finally, one chef has to make their eggnog dessert in a giant snow globe.

Premiering Sunday, December 20th at 10pm -“Get Rich or Die Frying”
Two chefs make a Hawaiian pizza on a swaying hula prep station. While making shrimp stir-fry, one chef has to ride around in a shrimped-out ride. Finally, one chef has to make a candy bar in an actual bar.

Premiering Sunday, December 27th at 10pm -“I Crisped a Grill and Liked It”
One chef has to make potato pancakes with tiny tools stuck in potato people. Then, two chefs have to make tandoori chicken while their arms are strapped in tandem. Finally, one chef has to make a crisp while working on an ab bench.

Cutthroat Kitchen: Superstar Sabotage
Premiering Wednesday, December 2nd at 9pm – “Superstar Sabotage Finale: It’s Raining Ramen” – TOURNAMENT FINALE!
Winners from prior heats compete to win up to $75,000 for the charity of their choice. In the first round, one chef has to cook fish sticks in a weather chamber. Then, two chefs make ramen while starring in a giant monster movie. For the final sabotage, one chef has to cook dessert with both hands behind their back.

Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives
Premiering Friday, December 4th at 10pm – “Isle-Talian”
This trip, Guy dives into an island-Italian mashup. In Plymouth, Massachusetts, a colorful joint dishes out a unique plantain sandwich and wings gone bananas. In Colorado Springs, a neighborhood Italian spot serves up outrageous arancini and real-deal veal. A few miles away, a Caribbean-pasta joint cooks up jerk chicken penne and a surprising curry “vegetti” dish.

Premiering Friday, December 11th at 8pm – “Holiday Hoopla” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
This trip, Guy Fieri celebrates the holidays with dishes perfect for the season. In California, he hits up joints cooking up savory stuffing and latkes. In Nashville, he dives into sugar-glazed ham and holiday tamales. In Denver and Florida, he visits Jewish delis mastering matzo ball soup and knishes. Plus, there is even a trip to Alaska for mouthwatering meat and a real North Pole culinary celebration.

Premiering Friday, December 18th at 10pm – “East-West Flavorfest”
This trip, Guy cruises from east to west for a taste of Asian and Americana. In Washington D.C., a funky underground joint serves knockout dumplings and delicious ramen. In Atlantic City, a pizza parlor fires up cheeseburger pie and chicken vodka. In Colorado Springs, a comfort food cafe goes big with their Rocky Mountain roast beef and king-sized cinnamon rolls.

Guilty Pleasures
Premiering Monday, December 7th at 10pm – “Holiday Decadence” – HOLIDAY EPISODE!
‘Tis the season to be guilty, and in this special holiday edition, celebrities and Food Network stars reveal their most coveted holiday treats. Carla Hall shares her giant cannoli obsession, actor David Arquette and his wife Christina McLarty confess their love for a deep-fried turkey and Sherri Shepard risks it all for a banana pudding!

Premiering Monday, December 14th at 10pm – “Holy Moly Burgers!”
Burgers, hot dogs, and pork, oh my! Celebrities and Food Network stars alike are sharing their most decadent food finds, like Duff Goldman’s giant burger with donuts for buns, and Gail Simmons’ peanut butter and jelly “cruffin.” Plus, Anne Burrell reveals an extreme pork dish, and find out why Michael Symon’s hot dog of choice is called “The Mother of All Dogs.”

Premiering Monday, December 21st at 10pm – “Cheesiest and Meatiest”
Food Network stars and celebrities are sharing their most indulgent Guilty Pleasures! Buddy Valastro takes us to New Jersey for the cheesiest, meatiest cheesesteak around, while Rocco DiSpirito gets down with some mouthwatering fried chicken for two. In Texas, Fabio Viviani chows down on a green chili mac and cheese and Tia Mowry reveals her favorite “explosive” pizza!

Premiering Monday, December 28th at 10pm – “Pig Out!”
Celebrities and Food Network stars are ‘fessing up and revealing their Guilty Pleasures! Duff Goldman builds a pizza with a ton of toppings and Bobby Deen goes for a burger with a kick. Salt-N-Pepa reveal their favorite dinner and dessert combo, and Aarón Sánchez takes on a four-pound pork sandwich!

Guy’s Grocery Games: Tournament of Champions
Premiering Sunday, December 6th at 8pm – “Tournament of Champions: Part 2”
Four returning champs are out to prove their first win was no fluke when they make their best breakfast featuring ingredients like frozen kale and kumquats from Guy’s Grocery List! Next, the chefs are challenged to make a hearty sandwich and side, but can only shop the odd-numbered aisles. The finalists must shop for the Red Light Special, olives, for their decadent dinner even though they are told the store will be closing in a few minutes. The winner gets a repeat Shopping Spree and a spot in the finale.

Premiering Sunday, December 13th at 8pm – “Tournament of Champions: Part 3”
Four returning champs battle it out for more money and a spot in the Tournament of Champions finale. The winning chef will get to go on their second Shopping Spree and a shot at becoming the GGG Grand Champion!
