Justin Warner's Web Series Foodie Call

In December 2014, the Food Network announced that Justin Warner was going to have an upcoming web series, and that the viewers would get to pick the concept.  The three concepts pitched were:
  • Warner's Walk-In where Justin explores trending ingredients and makes something with them.
  • Tomorrow's Eats with Justin Warner where Justin looks at new and trending restaurant concepts.
  • Foodie Call with Justin Warner where he had Jean Grae, a hip-hop artist on with him.  Jean brings him random ingredients, and he puts them together to make a dish.
It appears that Foodie Call was the winning concept as the first webisode of his web series has been posted and it features Justin Warner making cold brew coffee in a matter of minutes.  The video is after the break if you want to watch.

My challenge to you is to go to Foodnetwork.com and try to figure out how to get to this video without using the search feature.  It appears there isn't much promotion of this besides Justin promoting it on social media.

  1. Justin Warner and hip hop. Two loathsome things in one video. FN would have to pay me and also sedate me to get me to watch that.

  2. Yes, we all have nitrous at home to use when we want to cold brew coffee quickly. This is so ridiculous. I feel bad for him that FN is not really promoting this, but this video would not make me want to watch more like this.

  3. "Foodie Call"?! Really?! That's an all time low for Food Network.

  4. Sounds like a contractional obligation show. FN doesn't seem to want him on TV.

  5. The winner is the worst of them all.

  6. When I think hiphop, I think Justin Warner. You should too, or he will put a cap in yo ass.

  7. I think Lenny was the worst winner.

  8. LOL, I didn't even understand the "joke" until your comment just now! Huge low for FN!

  9. Ok so this is off topic to Justin's Food Network hopes, but WTF happened on Chopped Amateurs the other night? That dingbat Long Island chick, who is hair dresser, couldn't pull her hair back to save the judges from seeing hair on their plates? After round 1 and her hair was on Chris Santos' plate, I was almost shouting at my tv: "BITCH, put your hair in a ponytail!" She seemed nice enough, and a decent chef, but what kind of nasty person doesn't keep their hair out of a plate? Maybe she handles raw pork and chicken without washing her hands???

  10. I think the public must've been crazy to ever vote for him. Weird combos of food that hardly anyone would really bother recreating or serving to others. Seems to me like he tries too hard to be hip. He also often sounds monotone and flat. Danushka had more personality. Go figure.

  11. I thought he started out endearing but became way too cocky.

  12. Seems like FN is not quite sure what to do with this guy. Toss him into the same heap as other discarded FN personalities.

  13. So FN keeps shoving Melissa d'Arabian down our throats, but the best they can do for Justin Warner is a web series? Not even a spot on Cooking Channel? Heck, Kelsey Nixon didn't even win FNS, and she has a Cooking Channel series.

  14. I like Justin. I voted for him (in the last season I watched of FNS). It's almost comical how FN has no idea what to do with him. I can almost hear the suits trying to come up with "cool," "hip" ways to package him. He's not Poochie (H/T "The Simpsons"). Just let him cook! As I recall, his show concept on FNS was a strong one ("Rebel with a Culinary Cause," with clips from Alton Brown's "Good Eats"). Some version of that would work nicely on FN or Cooking Channel. Hell, Sandra Lee had a show just like that and we all know how much FN likes to do the same thing over and over again. (Along those lines, the concept for Melissa D'Arabian's show, on FNS, was a good one, too, and they dropped it.) As for their website, it's always been comically bad. The former Food Network Humor lambasted it relentlessly.

  15. I haven't seen or heard a thing about him since he won. I'm assuming FN buried that embarrassment somewhere deep in the bowels of hell? (no pun intended)

  16. That has long been a pet peeve of mine. All these shows where people cook and their hair is long, yet they don't put on a hair net. I missed the episode you discussed, but I've seen it happen before.

  17. I don't find Melissa nearly as grating as Justin.

  18. I'm not crazy about either of them, even if Justin is a Maryland boy. However, Justin did win his season of FNS—and without the issues that surround Lenny—yet the network doesn't seem as committed to promoting him as it is with Melissa.

  19. Interestingly enough, an episode of Unique Eats with a theme of out-of-the-box restaurateurs aired before Justin's season on FNS, and he was one of the featured players, so both he and his POV appear to be valid.

At any rate, giving him a web series is like pushing him down and then repeatedly kicking him.

  20. Agreed. I wish he'd just tell them where to go and then go do his own thing. There are more things in life than being on FN. He should go find what makes him happy because it's obvious he's not going to be a FN star.

  21. Seems to me, no one cooks their food long enough. Giadas food must always come out raw.....with hair in it (and a bit of cleavage too).

  22. There is a Lenny fan club on Facebook.
