Here are their Contestant Bio's from the press release before the season started:
Genique Freeman (Fayetteville, NC): Genique is funny, optimistic and dedicated to helping others, but in the kitchen –she needs help herself. Almost every meal she eats is catered or from a restaurant, which is very expensive and has caused health issues. She is an esthetician who never burns her clients, but burns everything in the kitchen. She knows she needs to change her lifestyle, learn to cook and eat healthy foods, and is ready for boot camp to show her the wayThere is a poll on the Food Network site where people are voting for who they want to win, and as of writing this, 55% of people are rooting for Tyler/Genique and 45% are rooting for Anne/Kristen. This post will be updated with the winner after the episode airs (Winner posted after the break).
Kristen Redmond (Nashville, TN): Even though her father is an accomplished chef, Kristen never learned how to cook. The youngest of four siblings, she admits to being spoiled and relying on others to make her meals or eating in dad’s restaurants. Her cooking attempts have even sent her and her boyfriend to the emergency room. Kristen is a confident singer and musician, and she is hoping to gain that confidence in the kitchen.
The winner of Worst Cooks in America Season 6 was Kristen Redmond bringing home $25,000 and the win for Anne Burrell. This is Anne Burrell's 4th win, but her first in the past 3 seasons.
This has to have been their weakest group yet. That they so badly messed up last week -- after six weeks in boot camp -- just proved it. And from the ads I've seen, the sniping between Anne and Tyler is the nastiest yet. I have no doubt he won't be back next year.
ReplyDeleteI knew Anne would win. She always does. I don't know why I watch.
ReplyDelete2011 to 2015, I don't know when the episode aired, or when it was shot, not to mention how many years it was failing such that they reached out to FN on a new series, but lets say it lasted 3 and a half years after the airing. That's not too bad. RI can clean up a kitchen and his crew can redecorate (but come on $10K is too cheap anymore) but underlying problems aren't going to be fixed in two days.
ReplyDeleteTyler violated the rules. Anne called him on it.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool the restaurant lasted this much longer. I expected one of the more recent ones to be closed first, honestly.
ReplyDeleteWith her father being
ReplyDeleteAre you talking about this or the week before. they did not mess up in the finale any more than other years. Considering there were less mistakes this year. Kristin's mistakes in her dessert and main course were due to Anne since the presentation and amount of sauce was exactly how Anne taught her. The Lamb was overdone because it was rare in the test. Again Anne advised her run it to the oven to be sure. Also in the appetizer round the mushrooms were prepared as Anne taught her.. While the mistakes for Genigue were all in her execution.
ReplyDeleteI felt that Genique should have won. Kristen over cooked her lamb. Kristen's dessert had a lackluster presentation. The judges on chopped would have expressed their displeasure for those very things. I will not be watching again next year.
ReplyDeleteI felt the sameway while watching it - last year's group just seemed to progress much further than this year's plus this year's group seemed to cast for characters over people actually wanting to improve. So many of these people felt like such exaggerations of normal people that I was kind of O RLY the entire time.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see some of them last, though it's impossible to say how well they did during the time they remained open. As my dad said: as long you make enough to cover your expenses, you can stay open forever, it doesn't mean that you're profitable though.
ReplyDeleteKristen overcooks her main course lamb and burns her vegetables (how could the judges not taste the char in the vegetables she salvaged) and wins. smh
ReplyDeleteBurrell shrieking at Tyler for being closer than 3' while doing the same thing herself was the most annoying part of the hour. She is so f'n irritating. The commercials show her as the judge on this weeks Cutthroat Kitchen, I'm going to skip through her judging. I can't stand to listen to that voice anymore. I'll also skip Worst Cooks until she's not on it anymore.
She lost twice to Bobby Flay.
ReplyDeleteThe obnoxious mouthy blond with the bad hair is unwatchable in any show she does.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Genique Freeman should have won. It's really strange how this particular "contest" judges the winner and in the end it comes down to the last few dishes. I knew Kristen would win.
ReplyDeleteI didn't mean always as in every time; it's like saying Bobby always wins Beat Bobby Flay. It happens so often that it's not a surprise, and it's annoying.
ReplyDeleteI just watched this yesterday on ON DEMAND, and when the winner was announced, I simply could NOT believe it!!!
ReplyDeleteGenique deserved the win in every regard...one little thing was slightly underseasoned in one Judge's opinion, but her presentation was lovely, and everything was cooked to perfection. Also, I loved Genique's spirit.
I didn't expect to like Tyler on this show but ended up liking him better than Bobby Flay and hope he returns. I'm still in disbelief over the outcome of this...something just was not right.
It does feel like FN wants Anne to be the Queen of the 'Worst Cooks" franchise. Does anyone recall how often Anne gets the first pick? I can't recall a season where she didn't, but my memory could be off.
ReplyDeleteI didn't really like this group, especially the last two. I did love Sarah, however. She just cracked me up. But I couldn't really get excited about Genique or Kristen.
ReplyDeleteWhat was and is always not right in this networks shows is that they are not set for African American people to win. I've watched long enough--including today to know that. I told my son--they are not going to give that black girl $25,000 over that white girl. Disgusting
ReplyDeleteJohn Meglio changed things around pretty quickly after RI left. He redid the dining room a couple of years later, added a banquet room in the back, and made other changes. Still wasn't enough. Location was bad and money was mishandled.
ReplyDeleteWatch Food Fighters, the black people always win on that.
ReplyDeleteThen they showed Anne doing the same thing later.
ReplyDeleteNah, pretty sure some of these people are actors.
ReplyDeleteI have auditioned for a few cooking shows and last time I acted like a complete idiot with a character and almost made the final cut onto TV,
Most people have some sort of act and of course a decent cook could easily fake being terrible to get on this show and win 25k.
