Damaris Phillips - 'Southern At Heart' Renewed For Third Season

Photo - Food Network
Damaris Phillips' show Southern at Heart was renewed of a third season and the new season will premiere on the Food Network Sunday, October 26th at 12pm.  Damaris was the season nine winner of Food Network Star and appears to be the most successful winner of the past three seasons. Damaris won Food Network Star in August of 2013, and her first season premiered in October of 2013, while her second season premiered in March of 2014.  So pretty much one year after winning Food Network Star, Damaris is already in her third season of Southern at Heart.

Season eight winner Justin Warner won Food Network Star in July of 2012, and his show didn't premiere until March of 2013.  The show was a one-episode special that aired on a Saturday night at 10pm.  Justin blogs about Food Network Star and has appeared on random shows such as Beat Bobby Flay and Cutthroat Kitchen, but there have been no indications that another show will be produced with him.

The most recent Food Network Star winner Lenny McNab was crowned in August 2014, but there have been no mentions of a show for him, and we probably know the reason why.  The winner of Food Network Star usually appears at the New York City Wine & Food Festival, which is October 16th - 19th, so it will be interesting to see if he is in attendance for that.  So far, there is nothing on the NYCWFF website that mentions an appearance by Lenny.

  1. Hurraaayyy! This is fabulous news! I was wondering what happened. Damaris Phillips is excellent at what she does and a joy to watch. Food Network should definetly keep her on TV. Very happy to see this. :D - Crouton40

  2. Lenny would have rocked if he had been given a show.

  3. Who would watch him Sunday morning? No one.

  4. I would watch him. FN is passing up perhaps the only talented winner ever of NFNS. He would have gone far.....and he is more interesting than all the bland vanilla one trick pony FN chefs. This guy can cook and he is entertaining.

  5. Interesting to see that Paula and Bobby Deen will be at the NYCWFF.

  6. I sure hope Paula Deen isn't. I don't know much about Bobby.

  7. I should have phrased it differently. The website showed that both of them are showing up. There's a long list of people in alphabetical order by last name with a short bio of each and they are both on that list.

  8. Hardly the most successful FNS winner. That would be Guy Fieri, who is still doing his original Guy's Big Bite as well as monopolizing most of FN's schedule. Jeff Mauro is pretty successful as well and has branched out beyond The Sandwich King.

  9. Cakester, are you Lenny? Or perhaps one of his friends or relatives?

  10. Season--ha. There's no seasonality to FN programming. We should start calling them "series" like the Brits do, as in "Demaris will get a third series of her show"
