The judges didn't seem to like much of the food that was cooked by the contestants tonight, and when they did, it seemed like the demo of that contestant was lacking.
Lenny and Loreal were considered the top two for the week by the judges, and Chris L and Rueben were declared the bottom two. After deliberating between Rueben and Chris, the judges decided that Chris Lynch would be the one eliminated due to his demo.
Chris went on to compete on Star Salvation against Chad Rosenthal and Luca Della Casa. Luca and Chad once again knock off the recently eliminated contestant in Star Salvation, and Chris Lynch was eliminated from the competition. Chris will not be the next Food Network Star. Rough week for almost everyone it seems like. Too bad Giada had to return because she seemed like a bigger b**ch than usual this week. Cannot complain Chris left though [LOL at % of voters who chose him over Ruben]. But after this week I'm all in for Emma to win.
ReplyDeleteChristopher L. was never cut out for a TV cooking program, and I'm not sure why he even entered the competition. It doesn't matter how good a cook he is, he's never seemed to be interested in deonstrating and teaching recipes for viewers. Rather, he seems more to be about showing everyone he has superior cooking skills and is above the general cooking population.
ReplyDeleteChris was good looking and accomplished at cooking but came across as haughty and indifferent...and BORING.
ReplyDeleteEspecially agree w/ your Giada comments. You can physically see her stew when the other Judges don't agree w/ her. I'd be happy if she never came back.
ReplyDeleteNone of the contestants are appealing to me so far, though...not in a way I want to watch them, so I'm hoping for a Luca comeback.
Haughty is a very good choice of adjective. If you're going to have that kind of a sense of superiority, you need to enter a different competition, like Top Chef or even Chopped.
ReplyDeleteI think the comment that nailed it for me was that "he WON'T teach." That, to me, is the crux of why this wasn't the contest for him.
This competition is fairly predictable so far....except for the wild card Luca...who will sink...who will come out in the middle and who will rise to the top.....Luca...Emma and the Cowboy. Good choices all of them but in the end for me....the Cowboy wins because I would watch him.
ReplyDeleteLuca will probably reenter, but I wonder if enough actually watch Stsr Salvation to carry him through.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the youtube videos, it looks like they weren't viewed too many times. The show gets about 1.8 million viewers, and the star salvation videos have about 2,000 views (week 4). So, looks like you are right.
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad Alton chewed out Loreal! The First Commandment is Thou Shalt Season Thy Food. I thought Lenny was flawless -- a great job of "making lemonade" after he forgot to save some fish for the demo. I am so not a Giada fan any more. She singlehandedly ruined Thanksgiving Live (they're apparently not doing it this year) with her rudeness. I have this "evilicious" thought: replace her with Alex Guarnaschelli!
ReplyDeleteYES!! I love Chef Alex! I'd love to see her a judge on this show instead of GIada!
ReplyDeleteSome people like me watch Star Salvation on Comcast On Demand, so it's hard to judge numbers just based on the youtube video views.
ReplyDeleteThe return from Star Salvation is not dictated by viewer vote. In fact, it's already happened and just awaits airing. Once Luca—I hpe—comes back into the competition, I think he stands a good chance of staying in for the finals, and I wouldn't be surprised if the viewer vote then makes him the winner.
ReplyDeleteI've never been a Giada fan, so I'm not at all disappointed in the dislike she is currently generating.
ReplyDeleteAlex has really grown on me, especially after America's Best Cook. Sign me up for this change!
ReplyDeleteYes, I would like to see Alex replace Giada. Trouble is, Food Network doesn't appear to want to let go of Giada. Maybe ABC can sign her to replace Jenny McCarthy on "The View." I would watch just to see Whoopster mop the floor with her.
ReplyDeleteThat might be a possibility. She has expressed interest in having a talk show mostly unrelated to food.
ReplyDeleteI think the dislike for Giada grew exponentially after she ruined Thanksgiving Live.
ReplyDeleteAMEN to Ladyirish! Alex would be a great replacement.
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS look forward to that show. After Giada's drunk performance, flirting w/ Bobby Flay, talking "over" everyone, including Ina Garten, and the stupid glasses, I'm surprised she's still on FN.
Please do NOT cancel this, FN--just replace Giada.
