A press release from M Resort (the hotel that the restaurant is in) stated:
"Following much success in opening Jayde Fuzion, executive chef Seonkyoung Longest will be moving on to pursue additional opportunities in the culinary industry."The restaurant will remain open and will keep the name Jayde Fuzion.
Seonkyoung posted a status on Facebook on February 24th which may be referring to her departure, that said:
"It never has been about money, it has been all about people and food. One day, the truth will speak out by itself. All I want is be happy and make people happy with what I've got. That's all. It's that simple."I reached out to Robert Irvine and Seonkyoung Longest to see if there was a reason for her departure, but I have yet to hear back. I will update this post if I do hear anything.
You may remember before the season started, I was skeptical about the prize of the show. I guess my skepticism was on target.

Dang, that was fast. I'm wondering if they gave her technical control of the kitchen, but not the creative control that usually comes with the position.

This doesn't surprise me in the least. She seemed nice enough but she didn't have the experience or personality to be in charge of anything on a large scale. Robert Irvine telling you that you can do anything doesn't make it so.

ReplyDeleteIt's really too bad. I liked her a lot. Obviously she didn't have the experience to run a high end restaurant in any capacity. It was rather an unrealistic 'prize'.

ReplyDeleteSave My Bakery - ripoff from Cake Boss's show. Although he's way overexposed and we've quit watching him, you can't miss that he's now 'saving' bakeries.
If any of you have ever read the book that's out on FN, you'd see that this is how they've operated since the beginning. I enjoyed the book and learned a lot, although there are lots of names to try to keep straight and waaaay too much info on which people put in how much money.
That's too bad. I was thinking of getting the next level of DirecTV, partially so we could have Cooking Channel.
ReplyDeleteShe must have signed a do not disclose agreement...we will never hear what happened. Kinda like what happened with the Korean BBQ food truck on Food Truck Race.
ReplyDeleteSave My Bakery predates Bakery Boss; it aired a year or 2 ago on Cooking Channel but wasn't much publicized. If anything is a ripoff, it's Buddy's show. Food Network decided to pull Kerry's show out of the mothballs and air it when it might actually be seen. And Kerry is much better than Buddy in terms of tough love and good business advice.
ReplyDeleteGreat info, thanks! I had no idea Save My Bakery was the first show rather than Buddy's show. There is so much ripping off in cooking shows lately. Find one that works and let's just keep cranking them out. Glad to know Kerry is a lot better. May have to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI live in N. IL & grew up in WI. In March we are all done with the cold and snow mentally. Generally it starts reaching mid 40's on a regular basis. We live in fear of another cold snap or snowstorm by now. Her show would have been better placed in Jan or Feb.
ReplyDeleteYes you are correct Save my Bakery was shot first and yes, I miss Challenge too. That said I think the idea is to light an inspirational fire under bakers/owners who are in burn out mode. I don't pretend to know all the answers but I do believe I have been effective.

ReplyDeleteJust saw the episode called "Waste Not, Want Not" with Schenk's Bakery. I wish them the best, however will say that I think that the "reveal" was the most underwhelming of all of the episodes thus far. Same floor....they left the old, gross, ugly blinds in the windows....the front door glass was dirty as they walked in to see their new place. Just seemed like it was a halfway job this time.

Seriously, I never saw CAKE BOSS redo a bakery for someone else. And have you ever had his cakes? YIKES! Dry and stiff. I think they are horrible. He seems like a great guy, but I am NOT impressed with his cakes. Kerry's recipes are wonderful and I love her "Aussie" attitude and solving problems with a cup of tea, first......Way to go Kerry! Always been my philosophy as well. I love this show and I have 10 grandkids (2 more on the way) and 4 of them are mesmerized by her show. I cannot wait for season 2!
