Pier West in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, which was featured on season 6 of Restaurant Impossible has closed. In November, the restaurant said they would be closed until Spring, however last night, they had a 'Drink The Bar Dry' New Year's Eve party.
The description of the event stated that the end was here for the Pier and it was their last hurrah. The event description is below:

"The end is here.........for both the year and the Pier. This holiday weekend is the last hurrah for Pier West. If you want to take one final long walk on a short Pier West, say hello and goodbye, join us on the New Years Eve night to end it all. Hats, champagne toast, party favors and poppers provided to all. Shot and drink specials all night. Plus a $30 drink the bar dry special. (Optional.) Happy New Year to all, and to all a Merry 2014."This is the 4th restaurant from season 6 (2013) of Restaurant Impossible to close, and the Restaurant Impossible Update Page has been updated to show this.
They're dropping like flies now...
ReplyDeleteProbably because they no longer focus on really making the restaurant succeed. It used to be that RI would come up with a menu, a marketing plan, train the staff better and improve the process. Now, it's just a slap of paint, reduce the menu, increase the prices and then focus on the drama and expect the restaurant to succeed.
ReplyDeleteIt's no wonder that after RI leaves, the business problems are still there and higher prices and a smaller menu ain't gonna fix squat.
if i remember correctly the guy was a complete douche to robert and was behind on child support and had kids by several women.
ReplyDeleteThat place was beautiful! It could of easily been a two million dollar plus restaurant per year. Weddings on that beautiful pier. They should of hired a General Manager to run the place instead of the son that they enabled, coddled, babied 24/7. He should go to culinary school and learn instead of spitting in the wind at the restaurant, while losing money daily. Just a shame.
ReplyDeleteThat's a revelation....I guess karma caught up with him.
ReplyDelete"Plus a $30 drink the
ReplyDeletebar dry special. (Optional.)" That would have been good for me, but what would everyone else have drank?! lol
Very true. I'm watch this week's episode right now. Irvine's doing another one of his 'The Bob Newhart Show' counseling sessions. I'm also afraid the place is going to be turned into a place that's out of place in rural Montana.
ReplyDeletePlease. Robert Irvine is no Robert Hartley :)
ReplyDeleteWhere's that Price is Right "sad trombone" sound when you need it? :)
ReplyDeleteThat is funny!
