Tonight on Food Network Star, the remaining contestants had to come up with two products that represent their brand and style. They present their two ideas to the judges, who help them narrow it down to one, and they then have to pitch this product to a panel of food executives from Target, Kellogg's, and Kraft. It kind of reminded me of a low budget Shark Tank.
Continue reading for a quick recap and to see who went home tonight. Also, after the jump is the third episode of Star Salvation, where Lovely will compete against the eliminated contestant. I will also have who was eliminated from Star Salvation as well:
Here are the products everyone pitched and how they did:
Nikki Dinki -Made 2 different vegetable sauces with bad colors. Pitched a roasted pepper sauce and was stumped on where it would be sold in stores.
Russell Jackson - Made Bacon candy and chocolate bourbon ginger ice cream. Pitched the bacon candy and won the judges over with his presentation.
Chad Rosenthal - Went with Baked Beans and a dry rub seasoning instead of hair gel. Pitched the baked beans which the judges thought were too sweet.
Rodney Henry - Made 2 different pie kits. Pitched a quiche pie kit with a song, which made Alton angry, but won the ladies over.
Damaris Phillips - Peach and chili pepper jam and a bourbon vinaigrette. Pitched the jam and came across as too scripted.
Stacey Poon-Kinney - Gluten-free, dairy-free cookie and cayenne butterscotch. Pitched the butterscotch and had a huge stumble
Chris Hodgson - Smoked apple red pepper jam and sweet corn soup. Changed the name to smoked apple ketchup and pitched that. Went over the time limit to say he was donating some of the profits to charity.
It seemed like they forced everyone into using a glass jar for their packaging, with the exception of Russell.
The top performances went to Damaris, Stacey and Russell. Not sure how Stacey made it in there or maybe even Damaris, but that may have been the editing which made them seem so bad. The bottom two contestants were Rodney Henry and Chris Hodgson, and the judges decided to send Chris home.
After being eliminated, Chris went to Last Chance Kitchen, I mean Star Salvation to take on Lovely, with the loser being eliminated for good. The video of Star Salvation episode 3 is below, and you can scroll down to read who was eliminated as well.
Lovely defeated Chris in this episode of Star Salvation, so he will not become the next Food Network Star. Lovely sends another contestant home, and advances to the finale of Star Salvation, so only 1 more episode of this. What are your thoughts on the latest elimination?
