The second episode of Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell is set to air this
Thursday at 10pm, and this episode will be looking to hire a chef
at Mirabelle in West Hollywood, California. The four contestants on this
episode are Matthew Smith, Drew Ison, Jeffrey Williams, and Shelley Cooper. Lets take a look at the backgrounds of the chefs set to appear on this episode:
- Jeffrey Williams - Jeffrey is a graduate of Baltimore International College and has worked in various restaurants in the hotel industry. When the show was filmed, Jeffrey was the Executive Chef at The Crescent Hotel in Beverly Hills (Linkedin Profile). Jeffrey also is set to appear on the popular Youtube series, Epic Chef, which was already filmed, but not yet posted.
- Shelley Cooper - Not to be confused with Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, Shelley was the Executive Chef at First and Hope Supper Club in Los Angeles, but left in 2010. She went to culinary school at Johnson & Wales, and was Executive Chef at 30 Degrees Blue in Panama City, Florida for some years (Chef Profile). Shelley was unemployed at the time of the shows filming.
- Drew Ison - At the time of filming, Drew was the Executive Chef at Kristy's in Malibu, California. In the past, he was a personal chef for Nancy Reagan when she would visit California as he cooked at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.
- Matthew Smith - Matthew went to culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, and at the time of the filming, he was Executive Chef at 3rd Corner Wine Shop & Bistro (Linkedin Profile).
SPOILER ALERT (highlight text if you want to know the winner) - Drew Ison is the chef that wins this episode and is still currently the chef at Mirabelle. Even if you go to the Mirabelle restaurant website, it has Drew listed in the About section stating, "Most recently, the restaurant welcomed the newest member to their family, Executive Chef Drew Ison. Chef Ison brings almost a decade of experience to the West Hollywood Establishment, having cooked for everyone from celebrities during his time in California Wine Country to politicians during his tenure with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library."
Eater LA also reported back in October that Drew was the new Executive Chef at Mirabelle and was reportedly on Chef Wanted.
UPDATE - Highlighted text revealed after the episode aired as it is no longer a spoiler. Matthew Smith was the first chef eliminated, followed by Shelley Cooper. This put Jeffrey Williams against Drew Ison in a dinner service, and as expected before the episode aired, Drew Ison came out of it as the winner.
