Justin Warner's Show Not To Premiere Until Next Year

Justin Warner Food Network Star
Yumsugar had an interview with Alton Brown where he revealed some details about the show he is producing for Food Network Star winner Justin Warner.  When Justin won, it was stated that his show would air 'in the Fall.'  Well, Fall has arrived, and it now seems that his show will not air until next year 'in the Winter.'  Rather than being slotted in the normal Sunday morning slot of past Food Network Star winners, Justin's show will be a prime time show.

The working title is Justin's Excellent Adventure, and instead of being an instructional show, it would feature Justin traveling across the country on an adventure.  Earlier this month, Justin tweeted to his followers asking if he should do a day time or prime time show, so apparently he may have had an option between the two (that tweet has since been removed from his page).  Also, Alton Brown revealed that he will be a mentor again on the Food Network Star, so it looks like they are sticking with the mentor approach for next season.

What are your thoughts on the show idea for Justin?  Are you looking forward to it?

  1. I'd watch Justin watch paint dry. Whatever he does will be worth the wait and with AB on board, I know it will be quality TV.

  2. I liked Justin and thought he had a very unique approach to cooking, so I'm looking forward to seeing his show.  The fact that I love Alton Brown and his show probably influences me a bit, since Justin seems to share a bit of his personality type.

  3. I hoped that Justin would be cooking for us, as in the contest.  Justin's creations were so unusual and interesting.  I am a bit disappointed in this approach to his show.
    Thank You,
    essence

  4. We do NOT need another bloody drive-around-and-eat show. Oh, the tyranny of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives." But I trust Uncle Alton, so I will tune in.

  5. I really wanted to see him cook! And while I'm glad it's going to be a prime time show, I really want to see it, already!!!

  6. Bummer, there are so many shows about traveling the country/world that I'm a little sick of it. I was hoping to see him in his kitchen and diving into his mind and food.

  7. I agree we don't need another show that focuses on driving around the country and feature restaurants and foods that are unique. I'm so over this concept.  As an avid Food Network fan, I think it's incredibly disappointing that FN didn't provide much info about Justin's show and when it would air. Also, it's incredibly unfair to the others that didn't get a show.  If they are holding back because there is no show and they hope we'll forget about it, they just may have been successful. Out of sight out of mind until a thought pops into my heads and I search online.

  8. I'm sorry his show is being delayed. I hope that his show will also involve some cooking as that is where his heart is at.

  9. He definitely deserves a prime time show, moreso than any previous winners besides Guy.  I would prefer a cooking instructional show - Food Network isn't showing enough of those  anymore - especially in primetime.

  10. If he's doing a traveling show, I'd like to see him do a traveling version of Good Eats.

  11. Snowshoe,

I'm sorry that Food Network only gave him a show like Guy's show.  I love Guy and really enjoyed Justin's cooking.  Really, Food Network, do you really need a show in competition with Guy, or is Guy moving on to something else?

  12. I cannot wait for Justin's show. I love that kid!

  13. I was looking forward to Justin having his own show on food...Not another travel show please!

  14. Kind of bummed to find this out. I really wanted it to be a cooking show. A bit tired of the Food Network shows where people just go around and eat restaurant food. I hope it's more creative than that :(

  15. I am really interested in his "take" on cooking. That is original! Or, I could watch the travel channel instead.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don;t watch any of those travel around shows. Too many non-instructional type shows on now. Food Network needs some shows out there that tackle the basics for people.

  17. Food Network is on overload of Diners DriveIns already - airing some nights 8 in a row. Please don't waste Justin on this format.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree with all those folks who are tired of the traveling food shows. Enough already!
Justin is a breath of fresh air and Food Network should embrace his wonderful ideas. We, the viewers are looking forward to seeing what magic he can pull out of his chef's hat. Please don't waste his talent. Give him a well equipped kitchen and watch the ratings soar!

  19. Does anyone from Food Network actually see these comments, or are they just read amongst us?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I would call his show Justin Just In.........but instead of doing another triple D or going to all restos, I would actually want to see him go to real families in real situations.  Like maybe a family reunion or an engagement party, or an organic cooking school, etc.  Then he can help cook a dish or make a cocktail while showing his unique twist on it.

  21. i just want to see him cook and bring new ideas to my dinner table...let some other food network star travel.

  22. I pretty much stopped watching foodnetwork because i got bored with the chefs. I was excited about watching justin cook qnd teach. He has such a unique style. Much different then the other foodnetwork stars. Guess i won't be watching his new show if he won't be cooking. There is just so many travellijg shows that a person can watch.

  23. I love him...so watching this show.

  24. No more traveling shows, please!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. No more travel shows!! Tell sister network no more house buying shows either....sick of it. Show me how to do at home in a non boring way......the reason Sunny, big daddy, arbian, arti, sandra lee, & sandwich king havent done well is they are BORING on camera. Well not Jeff, he is fun but sandwiches are to easy to need a show.

  26. Really expected more from mr brown

    1. Something fishy going on. My guesa is that there is no show for him.

      Delete
    2. I agree with the fishy part... but I bet it's not that there isn't a show... I bet it's taken this long because of a battle over what kind of show to do.

With the prior seasons, you basically had to do a cookie-cutter instructional show because you didn't have much time. With this season, you could do anything... and as you know, work always fills all available time .

And AB's producer absence could be that the network didn't want to take AB off of what he was doing... or it could be that the network only allowed so much time for the show and it ran past the deadline... or he could have wanted to take the show one way and the network wanted another so they pulled him. We may never know.

  27. I am bummed that the male winners of Food Network Star get prime time shows while the female winners get put on Saturday mornings at 7:30 a.m. and then quietly fade into the ether.  While I love Justin and will watch his show, I think this is unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  28. What a let down.  I understand that it's difficult to pull off the "first show in one week" like they have done with previous winners.  I get that completely.  But heck, it's been months and months already!   And yes, we are sick of watching "travel and eat" shows.  I do hope someone at FN is reading these comments and taking the feedback.  The concept they did with "The Sandwich King" was nice..  a few minutes seeing a local eatery, and then take the concept home and make it your own.  Hopefully there will be a bit of that in Justin's new show so we can see him cook.

  29. How about using traveling to inspire different dishes he could cook? That soundslike a perfect idea.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Not a fan of his and won't be watching him. I was just googling what happened to him since his show didn't air in the Fall. I was hoping the network came to their senses and changed their minds about giving him one.  The person who needs a show on Cooking Channel or Food Network is Vic Vegas. He has video's on youtube, he should be on tv instead of constant reruns of iron chef, and chopped.

  31. What was FN has moved to CC. What was HGTV has moved to DIY. Scripps has changed the direction of their flagship networks so much that I almost never watch them anymore. You know when I last watched FN? When Justin WON. I was so excited when Justin and AB were going to work on a show... it could have been awesome. Still might be awesome... here's hoping...

I'm with others here... who needs another traveling cooking show? Likewise, who needs hours of House Hunters every single night on HGTV?

    ReplyDelete
  32. You know the only cooking-related show I watch anymore? TOP CHEF. It's a shame NBC Universal has trashed Bravo TV and would probably charge a FORTUNE for that show. TC belongs on FN not Bravo.

  33. I was soooo looking forward to watching Justin COOK! I WILL NOT watch a show where he just travels around eating other people's cooking! That's why FoodNetwork has Triple D! I spend 99% of my day with FoodNetwork on, but can only stomach watching about 2 episodes of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives before changing the channel. It goes without saying...I will change the channel when Justin too begins driving around the country!

Bad, bad show idea!!! Let Justin have his own cooking show!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. So perfectly said!!! I voted for Justin as well because of the amazing talent he has of making food science understandable and fun for the average person! :-) I love to cook and look forward to learning some new out of the box techniques from this culinary genius! I cant take another 30 minute restaurant commercial they call a show. Sorry FN... recognize what amazing talent you have and make the most of it!!! Pleeease :-)

  35. I didn't particularly like Justin. But they didn't ask me. I think that there have been problems with him and trying to produce the show.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think there are more than enough travel eat shows. Getting real tired of Diners Drive Ins and Dives as well....

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm disappointed It won't be an instructional show. Justin has a very unique approach to cooking and I was looking forward to learning some of his methods. I hope this doesn't turn into another overexposed triple D. I voted for Justin to watch him cook, not to talk about what other people have cooked. I hope FN gets this right.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Do they really need another show traveling seeing restaurants????? Its been done hundreds of times...... I thought justin won cause he could
    Cook not travel???

    ReplyDelete
  39. HURRY UP! I WANT TO SEE THE SHOW ALREADY! JUSTIN IS SO UNIQUE, I SO LOOK FORWARD TO WATCHING HIS SHOW. BUT, IT SHOULD BE A COOKING SHOW NOT ANOTHER "TRAVELING AND EATING" SHOW.

    ReplyDelete
  40. one more show of someone traveling and eating BS, and that's not

Beef stroganoff. time that FN get some new blood. as much as you love some of the hosts too much flay, brown, Guy get back to teaching how to cook. if i wanted to be entertained i will watch NBC

  41. I hope you are listening to these comments.  It looks like we all want to see Justin in the kitchen not on the road.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wanted to see him cook. He's quirky and that makes him different. There are enough other shows that "tour."

    ReplyDelete
  43. Bleh I never really liked Justin from the beginning! I really wanted to see Emily win, but when she got out, I was team yvan all the way!! :( Justin's show might just be too wierd , and who would make a peanut butter and bonito flakes sandwich anyways? And I don't want it to become a mother divers, drives ins, and dives. :'(
